Talk

Environment Variables

How can we minimise our software’s contribution to climate change? How do we make software that can withstand climate change-related disasters? How do we deal with the knowledge that we’re careening towards catastrophe? I don’t have all the answers, but let’s do some maths about it. A talk given at RubyConf AU.

Description

We have Merrin Macleod talking this month about “Environment Variables” - a talk she gave recently to RubyConf AU

“How can we minimise our software’s contribution to climate change? How do we make software that can withstand climate change-related disasters? How do we deal with the knowledge that we’re careening towards catastrophe?

I don’t have all the answers, but let’s do some maths about it.”

Doors open at 5:30pm with talks starting at 6:00pm. We’ll break for pizza and chatting/networking at the end of the talk.

Please join us in the Ruby NZ Slack

Lots of us are hanging out there, you can get an invite from the official Ruby NZ (http://ruby.nz/) site here (http://slack.ruby.nz/). Don’t forgot to join the #wellington channel too as that’s were any discussion and announcement about this meetup occurs.
